David Greilsammer’s new album, ‘Labyrinth’, is a wild and adventurous project that been developed and created by the artist in the last few years, through a number of performances in the US and Europe. In 2005, the pianist - then still in his twenties - released his first solo album, the enigmatic ‘fantasie_fantasme’, and in 2014 he presented another halting piano recording, bringing together the Sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti and John Cage. Now, in his brand new album, David Greilsammer finally reveals the dream that has haunted him for many years - being trapped inside of a labyrinth. He has decided to share this strange and extraordinary dream with the public, through a maze of pieces and sounds.
Diving into a stunning succession of musical works, the listener can follow the trail of this labyrinth, exploring many different periods and styles and discovering a dialogue between complete works and ephemeral fragments, all magically intertwined. While encountering pieces by Beethoven, Janáček, Satie and Bach, we also discover some unexpected surprises, such as the world premiere of "Repetition Blindness" by Ofer Pelz, a new piano arrangement of Jean-Féry Rebel's 18th-century "Chaos", created by Jonathan Keren, as well as George Crumb’s dazzling and spiritual "Magic Circle of Infinity", among many other eclectic selections.
